How to Customize a Letterhead in Microsoft Word

Before opening your template, it is recommended to reset all the settings of your Microsoft Word to default values. Sometimes the designs we provide do not operate properly because of setting differences in the page layout. Please check the Microsoft Word function to learn how to rest the program it its default settings in a few easy steps.

Step 1.

After resetting Microsoft Word, open your template in Microsoft Word. It is recommended to use the latest version of Microsoft Word for a better experience.

Step 2.

In the 2nd step, it is recommended to customize the head. This includes updating the ‘Company Name’ in the text field with your original company name. It is easy to change fonts and colors. After this, update your logo. The logo should be in the PNG image format with a transparent background. The logo can be placed by dragging it to the suitable location.

Step 3.

Next, the background image should be changed. Right click on the background image and select ‘Change Picture.’ Then select your desired background from your template folder and click the ‘insert’ button.

Step 4.

After changing the background image, you need to insert a text box. Click on the ‘insert’ menu and go to ‘Text Box’ and select ‘Draw text box.’ With this tool, you can then draw a text box where the body text will be located.

Step 5.

Now it is time for the final customization. Update your company address and contact information or add any information the footer by just clicking on the text field.

Step 6.

Finally, it is time to print. Click on the ‘file’ menu and then select ‘print’ to check the print preview and determine that everything looks right and is ready to go. It is recommended that your printer settings be checked. Next, print a sample copy. You need to do this so you can be assured that everything is correct. You need these samples before beginning your print job. This is because sometimes, printer inks create slight differences between original template colors and the printed colors. If this becomes an issue, please check the support option that came with the printer or contact the manufacturer and consult with their support personnel.
